Across the Atchafalaya Basin — away from the jazz, blues, brass bands, second line processions, and parades of New Orleans — there exists along the bayous, crawfish ponds, and rice fields of the prairie lands of Southwest Louisiana, a uniquely Louisianan cultural area with its own music and dance traditions — that of the French-speaking Louisiana Creole people. Descendants of the mixing of free people of color, Native Americans, French and Spanish settlers, their rich culture has existed for hundreds of years. Louisiana natives Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys perform their own brand of sensational contemporary zydeco and tangy, energetic interpretations of Creole classics. Broussard, leading member of the influential nouveau zydeco band, Zydeco Force, is known for his accordion mastery and soulful vocals. His range, seldom seen in zydeco, includes traditional songs of the old masters, original tunes, single-note and triple-note accordion, and fiddle. Jeffery Broussard is one of the genre’s most dynamic performers. Together with The Creole Cowboys, the band fuses southern tradition with popular music flair to craft a new style of fast-paced, expressive Creole folk. Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys overflow with rich vocals, sultry melodies and an infectious beat.
"Mr. Broussard and his Cowboys are fabulous: You start moving in your seat as soon as their rhythmic, rich melodies, both joyous and mournful, flood the theater."
- New York Times
"Jeffery Broussard has long been respected as one of the greatest accordion players to ever grace our beautiful Creole culture and for that matter the world."
- Don Cravins, Sr., Mayor of Opelousas, LA (Zydeco Capital of the World)
